All events are online. A Zoom link will be sent to the registrants a few days prior to the event. Presentations will be recorded and available to the registrants for 30 days after the event. All times are Pacific Standard Time.
9:00 – 10:00 am – Agent Basics 101, presented by the SF/South Regional Team
New to the world of traditional kid lit publishing? What is an agent and what do they do? Do I need one? How do I get one? The Regional Team goes over the basics.
10:15 – 11:30 am – Agents’ Panel on Great Pitches, Jem Chambers-Black, Karly Dizon, Rachel Orr
What makes a “Great Pitch”? Our agents will share examples of actual Great Pitches that caught them – hook, line and sinker! Then, they will provide feedback from select pitches from our attendees – the first 20 registrants will receive a link to provide a pitch and from those, the agents will choose only a few to give live feedback on. Read our info on Great Pitches here.
11:30 – 12:00 pm – Lunch Break
12:00 – 1:35 pm – Manuscript Critiques
Only for those who registered and submitted a manuscript for a “critique plus Zoom meeting“. Those people will receive an email to choose their time slot. The Zoom link will be emailed a few days prior to the event. Read the Manuscript Critique submission guidelines here.
1:45 – 2:45 pm – First Look Roundtables
Only for those who registered for a roundtable with an agent. The Zoom link will be emailed a few days prior to the event. A group of 5-6 attendees will meet with the agent they registered with. Each attendee will have 10-12 minutes where they will read aloud 300 words of a picture book manuscript, the first page of a novel, or the pitch for their work. Then, the agent will provide feedback. It’s a good learning opportunity to hear what they have to say about your work and the work of your peers! Read more about our Roundtables here.
3:00 – 4:00 pm – Presentation TBD
