Webinar: There’s a World of Books Out There: What We Can Learn by Reading and Writing Translations

Date(s) - 03/13/2021
11:00 am - 12:30 pm

In this webinar with our Scholar in Residence, Jackie Friedman Mighdoll, we’ll take a tour of children’s’ books in translation, looking at which international books get translated into English, where you can find them, and what we can learn from reading world kidlit.

Then we will turn our focus to the act of translating itself. We’ll look at some of the fun challenges translators face and the writing skills we can hone by facing those challenges. No translation experience required.

Jackie Friedman Mighdoll writes middle grade, poetry, and picture books, and she translates from Japanese to English. She founded a language school and built curricula for teaching world languages to children from newborn through elementary. She has an MBA from Wharton and an MA in International Studies. She loves getting to know the world through travel, lit, language, and dessert.

Access information for the live webinar will be sent to all registered attendees via email the evening before the webinar. A recording of the webinar will be available a few days after the event.

This event is fully booked.
